It’s been awhile, I know. With an 8th Grade graduation, the end of school, several milestome birthdays and the start of a very HOT summer, I have found little time to write, but have definitely found time for ART!
Week 26 of the Colour Me Positive Art Journal Challenge is this week. I can’t believe we are halfway through the year.Which means, Christmas is just around the corner. Just kidding. There are still 26 weeks left in 2016, which means there are 26 more quotes to inspire my art journal pages. The last four weeks quotes have both inspired me and challenged me to step outside my comfort zone – not far, but just enough to try new techniques and to get a little braver in my approach to design.
The 4th of July is just around the corner. It’s one of my favorite holidays and, this year, it inspired me to create a couple of folk art pieces to add to my collection of patriotic folk art. One of my favorite resources for graphic images is Etsy and The Graphics Fairy.
I also joined Donna Downey’s Inspiration Wednesday group. Donna is “a well-known mixed media artist who is a born experimenter, blending and transforming both traditional and unexpected items into meaningful pieces of self expression (from her blog at Donna Downey ).” She designs stencils, rubber stamps and other mixed media tools. I’m really excited about this group. Donna’s teaching skills will really help stretch my skills as a mixed media artist. Will post as soon as I produce my first piece based on Donna’s teachings. The group started in January, so I have some catching up to do.
That’s all for tonight. Thanks for joining me on my adventure in mixed media.
